Does anyone here speak Hawaiian or know of a site that translates English to Hawaiian?

A friend has applied to Hawai'I Pacific, and I want to tell him… "Good Luck" or "I'm praying for you". I'll take any suggestions as to what to tell him too.

  1. Here are some ideas from the online Ulukau Hawaiian Language Dictionaries: http://wehewehe.olelo.hawaii.edu/cgi-bin…

    luck
Pōmaika'I, laki. See dream and sayings, hīhīwai 1, ke'u, mud hen. Bad luck, pō'ino, pohō, pakalaki, moe wa'a (fig.), nā'ole, niuniu, paoa (see also 'ula 1).

    wish
No exact equivalent other than the words for desire, hope, want. Best wishes, e pili mau nā pōmaika'I me 'oe. Dream of a cherished wish, moemoeā. Best wishes for health, nā kalokalo leo 'ana no ke ola (rare).

This might be your best bet: "E pili mau nā pōmaika'I me 'oe" (English translation: Best Wishes)

  2. Good luck: Pomaika`I
