I'm getting married in Hawaii and I want to know from people who speak from experience how you took your wedding dress over to Hawaii. I'm flying over there so tell me what it is that you did.

1. you can ask for special handling for a wedding gown. do not try and find one in hawaii~ they are SOOO expensive there. When I went there on a holiday at christmas I looked around there and to RENT a gown some places charge $3000 (yup to rent it..)
   I am sure if you contact the flight company you are using (westjet, aloha airlines..) they will inform you about any special handling they have for wedding gowns ~as I'm sure they have transported lots to hawaii…

2. If your dress isn't too bulky, you can hand carry it on, in a garment bag and have it steamed at a dry cleaners when you get to Hawaii. If it is too bulky, you can have it as a checked baggage, call the airline to let tehm know.
3. How thick is your dress? If it will fit into a garment bag, get a folding bag and carry it on, just in case.
4. CARRY-ON in a dress box and dry clean/ press whn you get there. DO NOT CHECK IT! You might risk losing or ruining it.
5. I am getting married in May in Vegas, and I've called the airline to make sure they know I will be carrying, and expect to hang in first class, my wedding gown. This way there are no surprises for them, and I can make sure I get the dress there.
6. you should take the dress with you when you fly. you should call the airline and let them know that you will be transporting a wedding dress on your flight. I'm having a destination wedding and that's what I'm doing. or if you know someone who is in hawaii (like a friend or wedding planner) you can ship it there and ask them to store it until you come
