Hawaii jellyfish?

when is the season for bluebubble, porteguse-man-o-war, and other jellyfish in hawaii …….waikiki, kona, big island, honolulu please we have children planing on swimming in the water and we want to make sure its safe any ……any other tips on season or where abouts of other water creatures that are harmful to humans thanx

  1. Box Jellyfish are very common and regularly swarm to Hawaii's South and West Shores, 8 to 10 days after the full moon. Box Jellyfish cause the most "trouble" for humans in Hawai`I.

Avoiding them is easy enough. Observe all posted warning signs. Don't go into areas where they are or have been recently sighted, or if dead ones are on the beach. Don't touch a dead one, or even a part of a dead one. You'll wish you hadn't.

  3. If there is a jellyfish invasion while you are there, it will be on all the news. Take some meat tenderizer to the beach w/you if you are concerned. There was an outburst on one trip and did we ever hear about it.
  4. I have lived in Oahu two different times for a year each time and never has the whole Island had Portuguese-man-o-wars there. They are really localized to one beach in particular, it is right by the air force land, but I can't think of the name of the beach. So I wouldn't worry about it at all. Have fun in Hawaii!!!
  5. Box jellyfish 8-10 days after the full moon. Portugese man o war during strong south winds. I haven't seen man o ar in years. Only certain beaches get man o war but I forgot because I haven't been to those beaches in awhile. South facing beaches.
