I would like to take my family to Hawaii but we have never been there before. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to where we should go?

1. I've been to Maui and Oahu and I really enjoyed both. Waikiki is great for families - there are lots of water activities and from there you can do any of the island tours. There's the Dole Pineapple Plantation and the North Shore surfing. And there's Pearl Harbor, which is really worth seeing.

   Maui has the volcano, Haleakala (sp?), and it's really beautiful to watch the sunrise from there. You can also take the Road to Hana, a very scenic car ride with lots of stop offs at beautiful waterfalls and overlooks. Lahaina is an old fishing town there and it's very touristy, but cute. I stayed in Kaanapali, but I also liked Wailea.

   For me, Waikiki was too busy and too much like city-living and not enough like getting away. So if I were to go back to one of the two, I'd definitely go to Maui. But you really can't go wrong in Hawaii.

2. Waikiki, Oahu is family friendly. There's a lot to do - beaches, watersports, hiking, movies, arcade (Dave & Buster's). Have a wonderful time!
