Should I move to Hawaii, with my 2 month old baby?
I currently live in illinois with my husband and my son, who will be two months old. My husband got a job transfer/promotion in Hawaii. He is really excited and wants to move. I am worried about leaving all my family and friends, who all live here. We do not know anyone in Hawaii and it is a long and expensive plane ride to get there. Plus I have concerns with flying my son at such a young age. I know this might be an once in a lifetime opportunity and would make my husband happy. Not to mention he moves up in the company and will make more money. Should we move and try it out or stay?
- I say go for it! How exciting! How lucky you are! I realize the fam/friend thing will be hard, but you don't know how long this position will last & you will always be able to come "home" if it's not what you and your hubby hoped it to be. The flying part will suck, but it's only one day out of your life. I also think some resentment on your husband's behalf may build up if you refuse to go. "For better or worse". This really could be the better if you give it a try. Good luck to you!
- im a miltary wife and have moved about 8 times since 96. no its not easy but your hubby and baby are your family now. 2mths is not too young to fly.
- Are you a Christian? The husband is head of the household. If he decides that ya'll should move and it's the wrong decision, it will be on his head. You need to do what your husband feels is right for your family. He needs to pray for guidance and make sure this is right.
- You should move if it is truly a good promotion for your husband. Your husband and children are your family. If you are concerned about leaving with your son so young, have your husband go first and find you a place to live, etc. and then go in about a month.
FYI, the cost of living is more in Hawaii, so make sure the raise will actually be enough to support you there.
- WoW! I wish I could move to Hawaii (that is where my family is from) I currently live in California. Everyone in Hawaii is really friendly. Give it a try! As far as flying with a little one. I flew with my 2 month old and it was way easier than when I traveled with her at 2 years old. I gave her a bottle at take off to help her ears and she fell asleep. As children get older it is harder to keep them confined. If you need to, you can walk up and down the aisles with your little one.
- LIve a little—try it out…..you can always move back!
