Since there are so many women that won't leave abusive relationships ("but I love him!"), and since women are denied many rights in Islam, I'd say it was because they like being treated like crap.

You can add me to the list, an American living in Morocco. I reverted one week ago today. Why? Because when I began to learn about Islam, I found that it was NOT what the media portrayed and that it was actually very good to and for women. My rights are in no way violated and I am treated well. I found peace, logic and happniess in Islam

Well, I find no fault in your reference sources. They are quite diverse, especially the Christian Science Monitor ones.
Unfortuately, everyone is making this claim.

The Atheists seem to be the ones more in the right. Europe is throwing religion — ALL religion — aside by leaps and bounds. Many nations that were Christian at the start of 1900 are now secular at the start of 2000.

And "thousands" does not make for an impressive number.

In the world BELIEF SYSTEMS change hands yearly by the thousands.

The utlimate fact that eveyrone has to accept is that more people are deserting religion in general, than move into any given religion.

This does not, however, mean the world is going Atheist, it only means the world is becoming less officially religious.

(Largely) because if they have a muslim boyfriend and fall in love, the mohammedan teaching is that she must convert.
Its also plausible, so she won't find its faults until much later. People love ritual and not genuine spirituality unfortunately.
