1. Yes there is a state regulation regarding bringing anything alive into Hawaii, even plants. This is strictly enforced. Your dog would need to have all of the shots and then be quarantined at your expense for a minimum of 30 days. I don't know as much about Kauai, but it is near impossible for someone to get a pet out of quarantine on Maui.

   I would recommend to contact your airline first to see what they require to bring your dog to Honolulu. Most likely your dog would be held there of the 30 days then it would be up to Kuai if they wanted to accept the dog after that. Some breeds might not be acceptable and this is too important to take a Yahoo Answer about as I am sure you love your dog like a family members. So the next step would be to contact the Health Dept, then Animal Control on Kauai. There are plently of dogs already on the island but that isn't your dog.

   I honestly lost a 3 year old Chinese Carp that I had really become fond of. I am from Maui but didn't realize the restriction would apply to fish, The airline would not let me take him on so I had to call everyone I knew to get someone to come to the airport to pick him up. He was still alive 3 years after that but haven't heard since.

4. I dont think so….I went there two years ago and I didnt see any posted signs or anything. I am sure ur allowed, just check to see if its ok by ur hotel or the landlord of the house ur renting.
5. Yes I think you can't do it unless the dog is quarantined for a long time. Better contact the gov before doing it.
6. Hawaii is rabies-free. Hawaii's quarantine law is designed to protect residents and pets from potentially serious health problems associated with the introduction and spread of rabies. All dogs and cats regardless of age (puppies and kittens included) or purpose, must comply with Hawaii’s dog and cat import requirements.

   Chapter 4-29 Hawaii Administrative Rules, governs the importation of dogs, cats and other carnivores into Hawaii. This law states that dogs and cats meeting specific pre and post arrival requirements may qualify for 5-days –or-less quarantine or direct release at Honolulu International Airport after inspection. Furthermore, the law requires dogs and cats not meeting all of the specific 5-Day-Or-Less program requirements to be quarantined for up to 120 days upon arrival In Hawaii.

7. You should be more concern about the cost the airline well charge you. Be prepared to pay around $250.00 at least each way to fly from went cost of mainland. And a lot of airlines know longer carry dogs certain times of the year.
