1. I went to Kauai for a week and ended up living there for nine months, first as a backpacker, then in a tree house, and after that in a shack where I got free rent for working in the taro fields in Hanalei.
   If you love majestic natural beauty you will like Kauai! To answer your question, it depends on how long you plan to be there, and are you a budget traveler or a leisure traveler.

   The highlight of a Kauai trip for the adventurous is the Kalaulau trail, an 11 mile journey to a beach that is unaccessible in other ways. (there are no roads there, and even boats can't land there most of the year.) There is a great community of people out there who fell in love with it and didn't leave. Your only water source and the "shower" is the waterfall that is there. It is gorgeous.
