1. First do a search for all hotels through something like expedia. Then, go to www.tripadvisor.com and read up on the ratings of each hotel by the travelers.

   I just had a terrible experience with a hotel I had booked through expedia, supposedly 3 stars, it was a dirty, run-down hole. Then someone told me about tripadvisor. If I had known about it earlier and read the reviews, I would NEVER have stayed there.

2. Use some of the internet sites that can help with hotels. They can be quite useful.
3. There's a Courtyard by Marriott over by Kapaa … probably the least expensive on that island.
