Is the Hyatt Regency Maui a good hotel for a 30ish couple, w/out kids?

We are also looking at the Sheraton Maui, the Westin Maui, Weston Kaanapali, Ritz…please help!!!

  1. I'm 29 and I've stayed at the Hyatt. I loved it. The rooms are nice and the beds are sooooo comfortable. The pool area can be quite crowded during the day, but gets less crowded in the eveing. The pool and hot tub are open until 11pm, however, the water slide closes at 5pm.

The Hyatt has a large collection of statues and such and offers free tours during the day. They also have a Expedia counter in the lobby where you can book activites and a Hertz rental counter. I've done the snorkel excursion the Hyatt offers on the Kelie V twice. It's a great trip.

The Hyatt is located on Kaanapali beach and is within walking distance of Whaler's Village (shopping and dining). There is a free trolley as well.

  2. Most hotels in Hawaii are catered to those with kids….however, they also make efforts to make some areas kids-free zones for those people who want to lay out by the pool without screaming kids around (you'll have to ask or look carefully on the maps to find it usually).

If you are looking a quiet relaxing trip without having to worry about kids, I would suggest you check out the Ritz or the Westin Kaanapali. The Ritz is of a higher class of hotels and most families with kids aren't going to be there (as the rates are too prices for most families). The Westin is nice too but not quite as secluded as the Ritz.

    Good luck and happy travels!

  3. Whole area is crowded.
Bodies on bodies by swimming pools.
Beaches OK & this in 8-06 I went.
Huge hi rise hotels & fine dining.

    Try:
Napili Kai Beach Hotel, Maui HI.
More for couples & heavy on families.
    Or My pic:
Westin Maui & or Westin Kaanapali.
    BUT crowded
& NO events for couples or singles.
    Or try Rent Condo.
    BUT buy food & cook.

Dine: Pineapple Hill Golf course area.
New Timeshares going UP near Ritz Hotel.

Best swimming pool is the Marriott Kaanapali with this Lagoon Pool system BUT heavy kid use.
Many nice romantic dining sites South of area & in hills.
Lahina is Touristy BUT good dining & art galleries.
See Atlantis sub ride & bring camera.
    Have Fun
    Try Mahi Mahi.

  4. Hi - I have stayed at the Sheraton Maui and the Westin Kaanapali. My favorite was the Sheraton. It is a nice hotel with a good beach. There is also great snorkeling right there at Black Rock. I am in my early thirties and enjoyed the hotel. If you don't want a hotel with a bunch of kids running around I would avoid the Grand Wailea.
