Has anyone stayed in the Marriott Maui? Is it nice? How would you rate it compared to the other hotels on the island? Money is not really an issue and we would like to stay in a hotel that is nice and upscale, but has a fun and relaxed atmosphere with good pools and is right on the ocean.

1. If you are talking about the Marriott Maui Ocean Club, the rooms are nice and the pool area is cool. I like the ocean better, but to each his own. Kaanapali has some of the best beach space in Maui. The pool area can get very crowded if it is a popular time. I like the Hyatt and the Westin if money is not an issue. They have good pool areas also.
2. Stay at The Grand Wailea. It is one of the best hotels. I've stayed there several times, and it's frequently mentioned on the Travel Channel.
