I'm going to Maui next winter and I've never been to Hawaii. I'm not interested in laying in the sun or swimming but do love to shop, sightsee and dine out. Can anyone tell me some things I should do or see that aren't necessarily well known or advertised in travel brochures?

   Tedeschi Winery in Ulupalakua
   Luau at the Royal Lahaina Resort
   Watch the windsurfers at Ho'okipa
   Have sunset dinner at Mama's Fishhouse in Paia
   Have pastries at the Hailimaile General Store
   Hike to Iao Needle
   Snorkel at Molokini
   Lavender farm in Kula
   Grass tennis courts in Wailea
2. Grew up there
