We need help planning a wedding in Maui.?

Hi, I am recently engaged and we are planning a wedding in Maui. We really want an outdoor location where we can hold the wedding ceremony as well as a reception for about 15-20 people. I am having a lot of trouble finding a location that can accommodate both a ceremony and reception without being ridiculously overpriced. Can anyone help me out with some suggestions of good locations that can accommodate both while remaining somewhat reasonable. I would also appreciate any additional tips you might have in regard to planning a wedding in Maui. THANKS!

  1. The planning doesn't have to be overwhelming if you start with a few local experts.

The Cafe o'Lei Restaurants are our favorite on the island for style, taste, and value. I would call them and ask what locations they know about and would suggest, since they do alot of catering for alot of different needs. These are nice people.

I would bet Michael and Dana would be able to steer you toward good accommodations values, too.

  2. My husband and I went to Maui on our honeymoon. We booked the hotel/flight/car on orbitz.com and got reasonable prices. I recommend a non stop flight if possible. We had so many layovers on the way out there, we were in the air and in airports for a total of 20 hours! From Hawaii to Atlanta a nonstop flight took 9 hours, but that was better than 20! We actually bought "Maui for Dummies" to get ideas on places to see, prices, restaurants, and maps. Also, we didn't book too much, thank goodness, because once you get out there, there is so much sightseeing to do if you plan alot, you miss out on relaxation. Plus, many of the activities there are advertised and you can call a day ahead and get a reservation. In my opinion, one thing you do need to decide on AND make reservations for BEFORE going is for a Luau. These are VERY popular and the really good ones fill up fast. If you are going to be anywhere near La Haina…go to the Feast and Lele….it was incredible!!!!
As far as the wedding goes, many of the hotels and resorts there have on site wedding planning and rentals. Our resort had a little shop where you could book pictures, rent arches, get a minister, etc. Plus, if you're staying at that particular resort, you might get a discount….I'm not sure. Hope this helps.
