What are some free things to do in Maui that are fun to do for ages of 21-40?
we are going to maui and I dont want to leave the island and miss out of free things!! so please give me ideas or websites! thanks
- Here is a link for you, enjoy your stay!
I lived on Maui for 4 years, it is a beautiful island, of course they all really are.
Drive to Haleakala for the sunrise… breath taking, but bring warm clothes, yes it can even snow sometimes there in the winter @ 10,000 feet.
Go to Molokini, it isn't free but it is awesome.
Aloha
- the standard free thing to do in Hawaii anywhere is go to the beach. after that, you can cruise around and enjoy the scenery. there are plenty of places you can see just for the cost of gas and your rental car.
- Go to Hookipa Beach, just past the airport, to see world class windsurfing. Any beach is free. Travel up to Haleakala, for the views. Ask a tree trimmer for coconuts or mangoes. Peak at the nudist at little beach, go to La Perus bay, pass Wailea and snorkle–awsome fish reserve.
- Horseback riding is wonderful there. Or rent an outrigger for the day, snorkling, just sightseeing, its a very beautiful place.
Im sure your hotel can provide you with lots of ideas and pamplets.
You will have a wonderful time, Maui is one of the prettiest places on earth , with lots to do and see.
- I don't think anything is free. But the beaches are beautiful, my fav. Big Beach, it's wonderful! You gotta do the Old Lahaina Luau..its the best! Or ride up to Hana, you'll see lots of beautiful scenes and that's free. Oh man, I wanna go back!!
- Hi,
I've been to Maui twice and each time we found plenty of things to do at little or no cost. Of course, you need a car rental to get to these places, but the freedom it gives you is wonderful. We'd pack up our beach gear & just drive along the coast till we found a more secluded beach & then just relax, swim, snorkel, beach comb. We had brought our snorkeling equipment from home so we wouldn't have to pay for rentals or tours that included snorkeling. And we still saw plenty of colorful fish (including an eel, a manta ray & an octopus!)
In Lahaina, the free stuff was the Banyon Tree Park, Makena State Park and the Whalers Village Museum (free self-guided audio tours, free movie). In Kihei, it's only $5 to check out the Kula Botanical Gardens. In Hana — a whole day's worth of gorgeous views & little hideaways, culminating at the Seven Sacred Pools, also free (except for gas :>).
There's also Festivals occurring year round, so you might be able to catch ones like the He Ui Cultural Arts Festival.
We'd already spent the bulk of our budget on the flight/hotel/car & of course, we allocated $ for food & souvenirs, but except for a Sunset Dinner cruise, we just explored Maui freely.
You might want to check out this trip & see if there aren't more free things you can find. http://www.tripwiser.com/trip_planner-ha…
Have fun! - go to twin falls and buy lots of stuff from the jewelry vendors and the pretty lei girl!

- Drive the road to Hana. Its got beautiful view through the rainforest. That's where you will see a lot of great waterfalls and scenery. The road takes you to the most beautiful black sand beach and caves. It was the prettiest thing we saw there.
Snorkeling was the best thing I did. It was fun we did a beer cruise where they took you out, you snorkeled, then they had lunch and drinks on the boat.
Theres a flea market off the main road (youll see it) that has a lot of great buys.
Kannapali beach had some cool shops and restaurants.
If you go to visitmaui.com theres a list of things to do and vendors.
You have to go to Lani's pancake cottage. Yum! They have banana, coconut, macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup.
Theres not a lot of free stuff exept the beach and the road to Hana. Have fun!!
