1. If you are the kind of person who keep a bathing suit, snorkel gear or a surfboard in your car, then Maui is for you, because it has 120 miles of easily accessible and swimmable coastline, more than any other island.

   You’ll enjoy Oahu if you like beaches, shopping, tourists, high-rises, traffic and don’t mind a lot of other people. Honolulu is like a tropical version of NYC, or LA as it was in the smog-free 1950's.

2. for visiting with kids Maui with Friend Oahu Maui has a running train that u can take your kids on and lots of place to see Oahu is more for honeymoons it matters what u are coming here for Ive been to Maui 4 times and live on Oahu in nanakuli but plz don't move here it cost allot of money and when u move here u put costs of everything high and take land that is need for people that live here (hint we have a bad homeless problem cus to much people move here so theres no affordable rates for homes and rent is high)
3. It depends on what you're interested in…..

   Maui is good for water activities but since Oahu has Honolulu, the capital city, it has a lot more all-around activities as well as a night life (if you're into dancing).

4. Both are similar. I live on Oahu, and have visited Maui. I guess Maui has a little more nature-ish stuff, while Oahu is a little bit more of the tourist shopping kinda place. Not to say that Oahu doesn't have beaches and Nature centers and stuff. But I love Oahu.
5. It depends on what you want. For nightlife and lots of things to do, Oahu. For the beaches and seclusion, Maui. Have a great trip!

7. First off you spelled oahu wrong…
   I'd say honolulu because its like the only city type we have but if you are going to relax go to maui or kona on the Big Island

8. For straight beaches and seclusion…Maui. For variety of things to do…Oahu.
