We have heard that it rains alot on the East side of Maui around Haiku and down to Hana, but we have found quite a few cottages in the area that we like. Does it rain alot on the east side of the island? Some of the places don't have A/C and say its not needed on that side. Is that true?

1. Also, any suggestions for cottages/houses/B&B on Maui that are reasonably priced and away from the crowds?
2. I personally think the best place on Maui to stay is up by lahina. (ka'anapali or kahana are good place up there) I think that would be the north…or west shore…im not sure im not good with directions but it is at the top of the island.
