Best family neighborhoods to live in Oahu, Hawaii?
We have 3 children ages 13, 11 and 4 and would like to know which neighborhoods are best in Oahu. My husband and I are both professionals R.N. and elementary teacher, respectively, and would like to find a nice home for lease in this island. Thank you in advance.
- I Love Hawaii Kai, but it is expensive, but what isn't here? Ewa Beach, Kapolei, Kailua, Millilani, Wapio but there are good and not-so-great in almost every neighborhood, just don't settle too quickly. Aloha
- Problem is, the nicest neighborhoods tend to be the least affordable. And even the other neighborhoods aren't that affordable here…
Anyways, Mililani is nice. Kapolei. Certain parts of Ewa (the newer neighborhoods).
- I agree with Susilo N. Laie is a very good town with very good nieborhoods. You don't have to be Mormon to live there, and theres also an Elementary School there.
- Laie (north shore); a big Mormon community. It's the safest area as far as I know.
- I live in Mililani which is a great place to raise a family. Rents are not cheap in this area however so hope you've got lots of money saved up (a 2 bedroom townhouse will run you $2500/mo in rent IF you can find it).
Other nice neighborhoods are Kailua, Kapolei, Ewa Beach (the newer sections), Hawaii Kai and Pearl City (some of the new sections).
Good luck!
- Maybe Kahala area, or Aiea.
- I was raised in alewa heaights its above kalihi. The schools there are mae mae elementary and its a nice area. I lived on puna street and all my neighbors were respectful and loving really nice place to live I would do anything to live back in that area.
My husband is in the army and we are living in helemano military reservation which is a nice area too.
