I'm visiting my boyfriend who just recently moved out to hawaii for his job. Being that he lives with roommates, I was trying to plan a romantic evening in a hotel..hoping to have a solid ocean view where we could sit out on the lanai and have dinner while overlooking the ocean. Any ideas on a reasonably priced hotel that could accommodate this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

1. "Outrigger Waikiki On The Beach" is an excellent choice. We have stayed there several times and have been more than satisfied. The restaurant "Dukes" is located there and it is the one eating establishment on Waikiki that is a must, the "Hula Pie" is to die for. Also is Canoes, another fine restaurant overlooking the ocean. Room service is available for those that do not wish to leave their rooms. You won't get treated better anywhere else on Waikiki.

   There are less expensive and definitely more expensive places to stay, but for the money, I think it will more than meet your expectations.

   I share this information based on personal experience and we visit one or two times a year.

2. There are many oceanfront hotels, and others which are not directly on the ocean but do have nice ocean views from the upper floors. Make sure which one you are reserving — there are many Outrigger Hotels, for example (a chain). Just be warned, like any other resort area in the world, there is NO SUCH THING as a "reasonable" price for an oceanfront hotel or oceanview room. Be ready to pay!

4. the Hilton Hawaiian Village, The Sheraton Hotel, or some of the out rigger hotels that have an ocean view.
5. The Outrigger is amazing. we stay in Feb. It was right on the beach and had one of the islands most famous restaurants (Duke's) in the building. We loved it so much we are going back soon. The Marriott is a good place too, but it isn't on the water. Great beds though.
