Hawaiian locals: Where on Oahu can I get orange bread?
My husband says when he was a kid, he used to get orange bread in Hawaii. It was similar to corn bread in texture and appearance, but the flavor was orange. Does anyone know what this is and where on Oahu I can get it when we go on vacation next weekend?
- P.S. If you have recommendations for guava cake too, I'd love it! Thanks!
- If you don't get any answers –ask people you meet who are local –like a waiter or the person who rents you your car. local people always know.
orange bread and guava cake you could get at safeway but I think it'd be better to get a reccommendation from someone for a local bakery.
p.s. spend plenty time north shore
p.s.s. have a wonderful time!!!
and eat one day at dukes at sunset! - I recommend Delight bakery in Honolulu. The weird thing is I live on Oahu, but I am not sure where Delight bakery is at, but my family buys some wonderful cakes from that bakery and their Guava cake is awesome….. I'd bet they would know of the orange cake you are asking about….. so when you are in Honolulu, look it up in the Local Yellow Pages…..
Have a good one.
- there's this place on the big island, it's called kam's they make bread and stuff. They make rainbow bread and stuff, but it's not really like what you are describing. It's more like sweetbread. Guava cake too, you can always try napoleons bakery they are all over…
Dee lite bakery is on dillingham, after the prison, around where the blood bank is.
oh I forgot… the bread place is on the hilo side.
