I am going to Oahu next week and it is my first trip there…Any suggestions of things to do?

We already know about Pearl Harbor, etc…I am looking for nightlife and romantic adventures since it is our honeymoon.

  1. LISTEN TO ME:

Me and my husband went there last year…and we did the most fun thing…rent mopeds!! I know it sounds crazy, but it is so much fun. I have never rode any kind of bike, but they are so easy to learn (takes like 5 minutes) and so great! Honolulu is so packed with traffic, it's nice to drive up to where you're going and park on the sidewalk…no searching for a spot. The wind in your hair, going all over the island…doesn't get any better!!

  2. Been there twice go to the activity store to get GRAT deals on thigns to do. I suggest Kualoa ranch if you like outdoor stuff (jeep rides, horseback riding, 4 wheeling and Movie set tours). North shore has some nice views, though the waves are small. Hanuma Bay is FAB! If you love to snorkle (and it's cheep to take a bus, get gear and go in…. like $20 for the WHOLE DAY!) Helicoptor tours, surffing on Waikiki is great, ther is the zoo and don't forget a luau! Germanes is great as well as Paradise Cove (they are the top two ranking Luaus in the islands!) Have fun!

The Activity store is located in the loby of most hotes. There is one located across the streeft from the statue of the Duke. Book All yuour activities at the same time to get a better deal.

  3. You have to take the mono-rail that goes between the malls, you have to go to the downtown area, theres an outside mall type alley thingy with all local crafts, food, and things, real pretty at night. stay away from pineapple fields, especially if its burning season, the red dirt in Hawaii does not wash out and the smell of burnt pineapple reeks. Theres a beach you have to walk down a lava mountain to get to, takes like an hour, so worth it, the water at the beach there is clear, and you take bread or something and the tropical fish come right up to u and u see them clearly thru the water, dont remember the name, but everyone will know what you mean. Eat Japanese food! There is the best authentic Japanese food there! Do not under ant circumstances let anyone feed you poi. And all the King Kamahaha (spelling could br wrong) is really kinda neat. And I wish I know you so u could bring me lemon peel and dried fruit back, its different than it is here. Have fun!
  4. One thing that can be fun is to take a plain old city bus from Honolulu to Kaneohe Bay, and then back along the coast. City bus riding is a great way to see the real Hawaii, not just the tourist parts.
Also, it's well worth going to see the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial.
  5. Yes you can take me with you WOOHOO
  6. Check out Platinum Tours while you are there, they will pick you up in a stretched SUV limo and drive you around the island for like $50.
  7. Eat dinner at the Hau Tree Lanai (make reservations well in advance). It is under two big trees that have fairy lights on at night and right on the beach. This is a wonderfully romantic place.
  8. There is a trail that follows the coast from the blow hole back around to Hanauma Bay. Everyone knows it is there. At first it is just along the roadside, but as it goes uphill it turns away.
Very isloated and no one will be on it. Most just come for the spectacular view or walk 5 min. out and turn back.
  9. Waikiki beach, Take a dinner cruise, check out the Aloha Stadium Swap meet (down the road from pearl harbor).

    Go snorkling ;)

Take a helicopter ride to check out some waterfalls.

Hate to promote riding the bus, but if you take the bus route from aloha stadium passed Pearl Harbor, that direction you will pass by one of the state buildings with a big statue of a Hawaiian prince, I think, it's very nice ;)

You won't run out of stuff to do once you get there.

Oh and go to Diamond Head for a nice walk/hike

The mall is kind of indoor/outdoor, it's pretty cool really. It would be a nice shopping trip for the lady ;)

  10. I think it is an incredibly romantic place. Just walking on Waikiki at night is romantic. We rented a car and drove around the island one day. There is a great beach on the north shore where they hold surfing championships in the winter, and a beautiful tropical garden with a waterfall. Stop for a shave ice. They're better there than back home.

Go to one of the restaurants on the top floor of a hotel, and split a bottle of champagne. Go to a luau.
