Our family is going to Oahu and would like to rent a home. Which areas of Oahu would be considered unsafe?
- I'm not trying to sound rude but all places have areas you need to be more cautious or are less desirable.
- kalihi, hotel street in honolulu, and the west side of oahu but a lot of the west side is fine.
and it can all be unsafe too –still a city even if it doesn't look like it.but have fun!
- Those huge Samoans are dangerous and live like animals. Watch out for them
- wainae, some parts of waipahu, wahiawa, small area south south of ewa beach (rough looking), I live in central oahu… I moved like 3-4 times since ive been here (6 yrs) I stay in mililani now. nice places to live kapolei, ewa beach (if you can stand some traffic), mililani, waipio, waikele, makakilo OH KUNIA too.
- If you stick with tourist areas, you should be okay, although I really can't think of actual unsafe areas on Oahu. Locals would know better than I would. Waikiki, North Shore, and the windward coast are all nice. I've never been to the leeward coast. You can ask a travel agent who specializes in Hawaii packages as well. If you have kids in your family, Honolulu/Waikiki would probably be a good choice because there is so much to do there. Problem is, it's also really crowded. Below is a website for looking up condo/house rentals. Hope that helps.
