We have three days to spend in Oahu. What are the "must-see" spots? Should we rent a car?

  1. tdpm's got the right idea but for day #3, I'd recommend the Polynesian Cultural Center (the Ali'I Package). Stay from opening to the evening show. It's pricey, an all day affair, but well worth the experience.

For Day 2 you ought to be able to squeeze in an hour or two at Waimea Falls Park on the north shore.

    Aloha and enjoy your vacation.

  2. yes go to the Arizona memorial
  3. I just got back in December. I was there for a week. spent a lot of time on the beach in Waikiki and on the North Shore. They were having the pipeline surfing competition. The problem with renting a car is that you will find a lot of places have limited parking and you will be having your car valeted. This can cost a little. Oahu has trolleys and trams running everywhere around the Island. They run until about midnight. There is so much to do though so it depends on what you want to do and see. My mom lives there so I was able to drive to Pearl Harbor and other places outside Waikiki. Good luck.
  4. Oh yeah rent one. It's just not hard to get around Oahu. The highway there is H-1. That's it. One main highway. Then of course there are a lot of big streets that will take you to all of the places you've heard of on TV and the movies. North Beach is beautiful. Waikiki is great for the action around Oahu. It's the downtown area with lots of shops and lots of beach. Then there are a lot of different places that put on luau's. There's a GREAT mall called the Ala Koana which is at Waikiki. The best stores there. So get a car…you'll love it!! Have fun!!!
  5. Definately rent a car and do drive around the island. Stop at Pearl HArbor, the Dole pineapple plantation, the beaches on the far side of the island, the Polynesian Cultural Center, Hanouma Bay for snorkeling, drive into the Diamond Head crater, The Punch Bowl cemetary and Waikiki beach.
  6. Definitly rent a car!

    Polynesian Cultural Center
    Pearl Harbor
    Haunama Bay
are a few…There really is too much to see & do!! Have fun. I wish I were you!!

  7. Diamond Head, Waikiki Beach…and the beautiful La'ie temple on the North Shore
  8. Day 1: USS Arizona, Missouri, Bowfin; Manoa Falls hike
Day 2: North Shore (surfers, Matsamoto's Shave Ice, Dole Plantation & Maze)
Day 3: Lanikai Beach & Moku Islands, Haunama Bay, local hikes

You will have to rent a car, but please get away from Waikiki. Sooooo touristy. Not real Hawaii.

  9. Waikiki Beach
    Pearl Harbor
    Polynesian Cultural Center

Most fo the hotels are near Waikiki, but you'll need to rent a car to get to the other places.

  10. YES rent a car. go to North Shore. EXCELLENT waves. burger joint across from the beach I want to cal it Big Kahuna's, I may be wrong, but, GREAT burgers. and views..next day diamond head.
  11. yep, what all of the above said. waikiki, diamond head, haunamu bay(if you like swimming with fish), north shore, polynesian cultural center. just go, rent a car and have an awesome time!
