What are the best local sites in Oahu?

  1. Beaches:
    - Waikiki
    - Koolina
    - Sunset beach
    - North Shore

    Hiking:
    - Diamond Head
    - Makapuu

    Historical sites:
    - Pearl Harbor (aka Arizona Memorial)
    - Mighty Mo Battle ship
    - Punchbowl Cemetery (view of city on the top too)

    Shopping:
    - Ala Moana Shopping Center
    - Aloha Stadium (available on mornings of Wed, Sat & Sun only)
    - Pearlridge Shopping Center
    - Ward Center
    - Waikele Factory Outlet

  2. Go to the Nuuanu Pali Lookout. The most fabulous view you have ever seen and very historical. Go the few steps down to the old road you can see below, and lean into the very strong wind. It will hold you up! Lots of fun. Then, take a walk down that road for a little while and see how lovely the views are from there. You will want to take a camera with you. http://www.hawaiiweb.com/oahu/sites_to_s…

Take a ride to the Byodo-In Temple on the Windward side of the island. Leave a small offering at the bell when you ring it. Wander around the grounds, take your shoes off and go inside the temple. Feed the koi fish outside and pick up a good luck souvenir at the gift shop. http://www.hawaiiweb.com/oahu/sites_to_s…

  3. Take a city bus around the island. You see the huge waves for surfing, the pineapple plantations & a lot more for cheap. . .
  4. Nuuanu Pali Lookout is really cool and windy!
