1. Hawaii is definately worth it! I just can't get enough of that place! I have been 6 times and I have found enough on Oahu to do that I haven't even ventured out to the other islands yet! Here are some things in Waikiki and around the island to do;Dukes is def cool and right on the beach, and if you want to dance with the youngsters you can head over to scruples. There are a ton of eating places down on the strip but the real hawaii is out of town. Take the bus or drive up to manoa and experience the rainforest and a natural waterfall! Take a trip to the north shore and go to waimaia valley and see some of the most spectacular fauna anywhere! If you adventurous hike along the ridges and see paradise from 4000 feet! I did that and loved every second of it..ok well it was more like 8 hours of it but anyway..lol. Diving and snorkeling are pretty awesome too! Hanuama bay is touristy and with good reason. You are guaranteed to see tons of fish and have a nice afternoon at a beautiful beach! Diving can be done just off shore and runs around 100 bucks for 2 tanks and you don't need to be experienced. Not far out of town you can jetski or parasail. Wouldn't really bother with the jetskiing cause they have too many rules in hawaii but the parasailing is something you should atleast try once. After that it gets kind of boring. In town the international market place is def cool and worth strolling through…a tip..go to all the kiosks and then go back and don't be affraid to barter..that's how it works there! On the weekend a really cool thing to do it go to aloha stadium for a huge flea market!!! I mean huge the tents go all around the stadium and everything you find for suviners in waikiki you will find there for way I mean way cheaper!! Oh one last thing, you have to go to a luau and the paradise cove luau is the best. oh crap…just thought of something else that will help you out. Go to Entertaiment.com and buy the book for hawaii and it will give you so many discount coupons it will pay for it self right away. I did and it worked great. Don't forget that part..really do it you won't be sorry. Many 2-1 coupons on dinners in waikiki which is really expensive.I have been to hawaii 6 times now and would love to live there.    Makiki Heights drive - Tourists don't find this gem and it's amazing! MUST SEE. Check your map to get to Makiki Heights. Great views of the island

   Restaurants: There are tons of restaurants in Waikiki. If you are young and like to drink then drink b/4 you go out! The Pacific Beach Hotel has drink specials all week long and there a good deal. There are Mai Tai specials all over but DIXIES has the screamin Mai TAi which comes in a 32 oz glass and is about 6 bucks!!! Good Eats there too! For cheaper eats go outside of town over towards the Kaneohe side. If you do want to eat in Waikiki then I would highly recommend that you go to www.entertainment.com and buy the book for hawaii. This coupon book will save you a ton on the island! Seriously everytime I go I get the book and use all the 2-1 deals in it! Check ebay for it too sometimes you can get it dirt cheap!

   Hotels; Best hotel for the money is the Ocean Resort Hotel on the east end of the strip. Very close to the beach, decent rooms, service is good and you will pay under a 100 a night for most rooms and the parking is much cheaper than the other hotels!

3. I just got back from a week in Honolulu - here is someone advice.
   1. Rent a car - yes it is an extra expense, but Oahu's famed bus system stinks - they just haven't caught on yet. Try to rent a jeep - always more fun - ALWAYS lock your car doors and do not leave your valuables visible. Oahu is completely safe but apparently bcar break ins are frequent.
   2. take a drive along the windward coast (east side) and the north shore
   3. Visit Haunama Bay to snorkel - I didn't see a whole lot of exotic fish but I know someon people who did, and either way the scenery can't be beat.
   4. Luau's are not cheap. There is one in Waikiki, but it is $80 - if you are willing to give up an hour each way go to Germaines luau - it's $60 bucks and campy fun.
   5. Restaurants: Check out the revolving restaurant in Wakiki (can miss it, just look up!) at sunset, and try starbirds for a fun gril it yourself dinner on the beach.
   6. Take a surfing lesson (group $35 p/person) on the beach. You'll be sore, but it is worth it.
   7. Definitely, do NOT miss manoa falls, it is a very pretty, easy hike and impressive at the end.You can also take a detour near the falls to harder more extensive trails. (There is a sign for it that is hard to see - the that trail starts with an A - be warned it is hard)
   8. Check out Nuanu Pali - great views and the windiest point on Oahu
   9. Skip the Polynesian Cultural center - waste of money and time.
   Also fun to see are the the Dole Plantation and the Budin Temple (sp?)
   10. Pearl Harbor - Get there early, but only see the Arizona, the rest is to commercialized, expensive and time consuming.

5. The Polynesian Cultural Center! Buy the VIP Presidential ticket and you'll be treated like Hawaiian Royalty. You can always go the cheap tickets but they won't get you a personal guide that gets you involved with each demonstration, and front row seating! Plan a day! There is a "show" later in the afternoon that includes dancing and costumes from all cultures in the Pacific!

   Do a luau at one of the Hotels one night, or your hotel will know of one. There will be Hawaiian Hula, men and women, dancing and singing while you eat. Try all the different foods! Just a nibble, you can always go back for more!

   Plan a day in Waikiki, the Aquarium and Zoo are at the end of the main road there. Waikiki will take you a day in the tourist sections.

   Don't buy Pineapple to send home. Its a joke of the Hawaiian people to have you order and mail pineapples home, or to take home yourselves. THE PINEAPPLES IN THE STORES IN THE US COME FROM HAWAII, and fresh too! Paying big money to buy pineapples that you can buy at home cheaper and more ripe, like I said is a joke. I used to live in Hawaii and we would see all the folks pulled into the trap….buy a Hawaiian Pineapple!

   Take a bus trip to see the Coral Jewelers in Honolulu. Also visit the Hawaiian Clothing store in the same area, get that Hawaiian sarong or Shirt!

   If you go to the Hard Roack Cafe' in Honolulu, plan on paying big Hawaiian money for the simplest items. A tourist Hard Rock Honolulu T-Shirt will put you back at least $30!

   Take plenty of money, its expensive there! Best transportation is by bus. A Windjammer Barefoot Cruise is nice too, but worth the money there! You get to be in the water out beyond shore, to snorkel, waverunners, surf-boards with motors on them are cool too!

   That should take care of only four days. If you want to rent a car and drive around Oahu it only takes about 2-1/2 to 3 hours total. It is a small island in a very BIG ocean!

6. Buy the enterainment book before you go. They have buy one get one free. Also if you plan on doing any shopping go to the aloha statium its their swapmeet and its new stuff just like you would get downtown but lots cheaper. You would take bus#8 to get there. Its on Sat, Sun and I think Wed. but I'm not sure about the days.
7. Get a four day Discovery bus pass ( www.thebus.org ). Go on the Navatek 1 Sunset Buffet Dinner Cruise, go on the Circle Island Tour, go to Hilo Hattie's, Duke's Canoe Club, Shorebird Restaurant (not starbird's). Go to Cheeseburger in Paradise-Waikiki area, go see Blue Hawaii The Show at the Beachcomber, go to Hilton Hawaiian Village on Friday nights and see the fireworks, go to the Polynesian Cultural Center, go to Pearl Harbor/Arizona Memorial. Just to name a few!!
8. I forgot to visit the Memorial for the USS IOWA, from Pearl Harbor attack, when I was out there, which I deeply regret.. we rented a Jeep and drove all the way around the island.. saw pineapple fields and lots of interesting stuff-all in one day, while we were there—check the brochures from a travel agent, or from the chamber of Commerce, for some other ideas- have a great time–ma-halo…
