What is the distance in miles from Algona, Iowa to Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii?

I am going to Hawaii and my 16 month old son is going to Iowa with my mom. I've never been apart from him from so long and I'm kind of nervous. I was wondering just how far away we are really going to be. It looks like a million and two miles on the map.

I am trying to plan a trip to Hawaii. I don't know what airport to fly to. Nothing goes directly.
