Does anyone know of any Inexpensive housing options for Hawaii? Does anyone know of any Youth hostels that are clean, and in a good location? Also is there any way I can stay in a dorm room at the University of Hawaii (similar to how they rent rooms in the UK) when the students are away on break?

Beginning in May 2007, I(the spouse) will be flying to Alabama for school frequently(between semesters for a year). My husband is active duty stationed at Schofield Barracks. Is there any reduced flights, or cheaper arrangements? I've heard of Space 'A' flights. I could have about a 2 week window to work with for flexibility. How does Space 'A' work? cost? actual military plane ride like? What are the odds in getting chosen since I'd risk not getting a commerical flight which would be very expensive last minute? Any ideas or any other useful information welcomed. Thank you!
